In that case my Ego just took a beating. My hips will never be the same. We spent some hours today working with the hips in all possible positions getting on that edge of good pain and just plain pain. Things I thought I'd never be able to do, but with someone else doing the doing, it's a different game! Particularly memorable is the one where someone digs their toes into your glute and then proceeds to pull on your leg while digging around with the toes. Oooh la la. And then the pose called 'the Thai Inquisition' (as in 'Nobody expects.....). Today so far was a sweat fest too. Giving the massage generates quite a bit of heat in the giver.
It wasn't easy to get up at 6 am this morning since last night we went to a Kirtan concert in a downtown Ojai yoga studio. It was Saul's band playing so we'd all gotten the night off. Never been before, but I decided yesterday I am going to try whatever is offered, instead of passing judgment ahead of time. So off the the Kirtan we went. It was awesome! I was thinking just the other day that I miss the singing I used to do in the women's choir in the Netherlands. Right now with my work schedule a choir is just not going to work. Kirtan is call and response singing and it was lovely to just be able to bellow along. Saul has a beautiful voice (probably part of his appeal as a yoga teacher) and Tony Khalife, the other singer, had a voice that complimented very well. We were home around midnight, dreams were understandably lively and 6 am came early. Still, dawn over the mountains was as impressive as yesterday. Tomorrow with the time change we may miss the dawn, so enjoy it today I did!
Feeling as if the mind if getting more spacious along with the body.....
